Tulane University is a leading research institution with partnerships that span the globe. University-wide research efforts garner more than $200 million in sponsored awards each year. The Tulane Center of Excellence: Institute of Integrated Data & Health Science performs cutting-edge convergence research to innovatively integrate data sciences and health sciences to position Tulane competitively for the emerging challenges and opportunities that are relevant and significant for research across Tulane schools (such as SOM, SSE, SPHTM). The proposed center is the first of its kind in the US. Technology and analytical advances have facilitated the rapid progress of data sciences and health sciences, e.g., rapid accumulation of multi-modal high dimensional data in genomics, transcriptomics, epigenomics, proteomics, metabolomics, gut metagenomics, single-cell sequencing and spatial sequencing, electronic health/medical records – EHR or EMR. In keeping with the diversity of its missions – education, research, and patient care – Tulane University is continually developing programs of excellence. These centers and institutes will allow Tulane to remain a leading and nationally recognized medical institution throughout the 21st century.
