On February 4-5, 2026, researchers and industry leaders met at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette to work on the research roadmap for the National Science Foundation planning meeting for the Accessible Healthcare through AI-Augmented Decisions (AHeAD) Center.
The AHeAD Center received a planning grant to be part of the National Science Foundation’s Industry-University Cooperative Research Center (IUCRC) program and includes four sites: Georgia Tech, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (UL Lafayette – lead site), Tulane University, and the University of Florida.
The event drew 150+ participants, including representatives from more than 40 companies, alongside faculty and students from UL Lafayette and Tulane University.
The two-day meeting included an industry workshop where industry and NSF could discuss the partnership model and a student poster session showcasing emerging research in areas such as in-home health monitoring, medical imaging, and healthcare applications.
